Small wingtip hooks are generally all that is needed to prepare a UAV for VTOL operations.

FLARES components are generously sized with built-in redundancy, resulting in a robust system with ample safety margins. The combination of true motor out redundancy and unparalleled performance has translated to a perfect safety record. With a motor failure, FLARES can complete a launch/recovery sequence safely without secondary damage. Real-world tests demonstrate the ability to operate above 10,000-foot density altitudes in gusts exceeding 30-knots. FLARES systems have been rigorously tested in extreme conditions from -20C up to +45C in rain, snow, and dust.
